Registration for Aerial and Back Handspring Certification Course

Location:  Starlight Academy, Royd House, Ghyll Royd, Guiseley, Leeds, LS20 9LU 

Date: Sunday, April 18, 2027  from 10:00am - 2:15pm (+ practical exam 2:30pm to 4:30pm)

This course focuses on the progressions, drills and spotting techniques of the side aerial and the back handspring. There will be amble time to practice to gain confidence in the timing and feel of spotting these skills. Additionally, there will be an introduction to developing and spotting the front aerial. Course content delivered from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

***There is a practical exam for the Side Aerial and Back Handspring practical exam, required for Module Two certification(15 mins in duration) between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Times will depend on the queue of teachers.

Teachers are required to attend with a demonstrator who is at Level 6 and above and has mastered the progressions leading up to side aerials and back handsprings. (International travelling teachers will be the exception to this requirement, please contact uk@acrobaticarts.com to arrange a demonstrator.) 

Progression capabilities;

• all cartwheels (R & L, one handed -close hand & far hand, flying)
• chassé step hop (all cartwheels)
• back arabian limber
• front & back walkover

Strength capabilities;

• handstand shoulder shrugs
• hold handstand on the wall,
• plank for 1 minute

*Module One is a prerequisite to taking this course. This course is ideal for teachers who do not feel comfortable spotting these skills, and is a prerequisite to the Module Two course*
